Identified Player Program
IDENTIFIED PLAYER PROGRAM
The Identified Player Program grabs the brightest young talent from the Developmental Winter Program, Summer Camps and School System and puts them
together in a developmental group that trains twice per week under the careful watch of our Provincial Coach.
This dedicated group of athletes play in approximately 3 local tournaments per year, and has been known for producing some of Manitoba's top athletes over
time.
The Identified Player Program (IPP) was started in 2002 to provide an opportunity for scouted athletes from middle years and high school to take part in
professional lessons twice per week, effectively transitioning them to the club system in a matter of years.
Athletes who have joined IPP in the past have shown great results Provincially and Nationally, and/or have been involved with MBA on an ongoing basis -
playing, coaching or volunteering. Some previous IPP athletes who have seen such success include Robert Dobslaw, Trinh Nguyen, Haley Nakonechny, Dan
Savard, Ryan Giesbrecht and Jordan Beettam. All of these athletes have since moved on to take part in the High Performance Program, win Provincial Titles
or take part in the Canada Winter Games with Team Manitoba.
Provincial Coach Justin Friesen is the main coach for all IPP practices and works closely with all athletes to ensure that proper progression of technical and
tactical skills are being taught.
The program runs from mid-September to the end of March on an annual basis.
