The tournament to crown champions in five junior age categories took place this past weekend.

Thanks to Prairie Badminton for hosting a great event.

It was an exciting three days of action.

Team Manager Needed

The role of the Manager is crucial to the overall success of the badminton program for the Canada Winter Games.  The manager will have the responsibility of taking care of administrative duties, internal and external communication and general organizational matters for the team.  This would include but is not limited to; A) Creating and distributing a player and coach contact list for all team members and staff, B) Facility booking, C) Uniform collecting and distributing, D) Coach, parent and athlete communication (overall), and E) Team
notifications and organization; prior to and within the games experience.

Team Manager Requirements

• Born 2007 or earlier
• Must have badminton playing and/or coaching experience
• Previous Multi-Sport Games (MB Games, WCSG, CWG) experience is an asset
• Experience in a leadership role is an asset
• All Coaches and Managers must be licensed with a “National Coach” license as issued by Badminton Canada.
• The Manager must have current Respect in Sport Certification.
• Completed Criminal Record Check
• Completed Understanding the Rule of Two eLearning Module

Managers will not be granted access to the field of play during competition. 

If a team sends athletes who are women, one staff member must be a woman. If a team sends athletes who are men, one staff member must be a man.

The MBA is partnering with the Whyte Ridge CC Badminton Club to deliver youth and adult programs this coming winter.

Tournament Updates

Please note a couple of changes to the upcoming schedule.

The 2026 Yonex Pal Chawla Junior Open was moved to the weekend of February 5-8.

This change opened the door to adjust the date for junior provincials.

The 2026 Yonex Junior Provincial Championships will now take place the weekend of March 13-15.

This event will still have the Junior Player Banquet and Award ceremony as part of the festivities.

These changes were made to better align with the Junior Elite series events that they were conflicting with.

The Brandon Badminton Club has added the 2026 Kawasaki Junior Open to the calendar on April 4 & 5th.

Finally as we look forward to the 2026 Provincial Senior & Masters event in Selkirk we wanted to proactively check on interest.

A simple online form has been created for interested players to add their name to the list.

If you intend to play in this event please take a minute to add your name so we can get a better idea of the potential demand for the event.

Shuttle Time Coaching Course

The Manitoba Badminton Association is hosting a Shuttle Time Coaching Certification Course on November 11th.
This will take place at C1|DK (101 Hamelin St #2, Winnipeg).
Time: 9:00am to 3:00pm

The course is 6 hours (including on court time) and the fee is $50+GST = $52.50.
