MBA Sponsored shuttle to event - players are encouraged to sign up for the subsidized shuttle to the norman open via this link
Thanks to our "Growing the Game" grant we are excited to offer a transportation option for this event.

The shuttle will be leaving Friday morning and dropping off at the "Super 8 by Wyndham Thompson" hotel (180 Thompson Drive".

Athletes can book under a discounted rate ("Norman Open") until February 22nd. 1-204-778-0040.
The hotel is about a 4 minute walk from the tournament.

Further details to departure times will be updated soon.

Space is limited on the shuttle so please sign up on the form.
A small $10 fee will be collected by eTransfer ([email protected]) to reserve your spot.

ORDER OF PLAY (TENTATIVE)
Saturday: Singles, then Doubles, followed by Mixed Doubles. (All events will be played through to completion)
Sunday: Finishing outstanding doubles/mixed games to completion

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Thursday February 22rd at 11:59pm CST

Manual registrations subject to a $10 administrative fee.
Late registrations are not guaranteed to be accepted and if accepted, will be subject to a $10 late fee. Individuals registered past the deadline may not be included in seeding.

EVENTS
U13, U15, U17, U19, & Open (U23 has been merged into Open)
Boys's Singles, Girls’ Singles, Boy’s Doubles, Girl’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles
Format: Single elimination with consolation

PRIZES
Prizes awarded for event winners & runners-up
Consolation event winners only (not runners-up)

ELIGIBILITY
Participants must have an active current 2023-2024, Regional, Provincial, or National membership.
The competition will be conducted under the official rules of Badminton Canada.

FEES
1 event: $55.00
2 & 3 events: $65.00

Entry fees are payable on-line at the time of registration.

SHUTTLES
Yonex Mavis 350 shuttles will be used. Match shuttles are included in the entry fee.

CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT
Participants must have an indoor change of clothing and non-marking athletic shoes.
Participants must bring their own racquets.

AVAILABILITY
Players must make themselves available for the entirety of the event. Due to the unpredictability of speed of play, athletes are expected to be ready well ahead of their scheduled match time.
The tournament will enforce a 10-minute disqualification rule and a 2-minute warm-up rule.
Reasonable requests for late starts or timing accommodations are not guaranteed to be accepted and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

COACHING
For field-of-play access, coaches must hold a valid (confirmed or pending) 2023-2024 MBA Coaching License.
Only one coach will be allowed to be present behind the court during any match.

REFUND POLICY
Badminton Manitoba does not permit refunds of MBA Memberships.
Badminton Manitoba does not permit refunds of tournament registration fees unless requests are accompanied by a medical note or immediate family crisis. This does not apply to partial fee refunds if an athlete paid for 2-3 categories and was unable to secure a partner (thus only competing in 1 event).

TERMS & CONDITIONS
In consideration of the acceptance of this entry in the name of the 2024 Yonex Norman Open, I, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, waive any claims to which I may become entitled for injury or damage, and release the MBA and all other organizers, sponsors, representatives, their agents and employees and any other person or organization assisting in this event from any claims for damages or injury suffered by me as a result of my participation in, or traveling to, or from, this event, notwithstanding that any such loss, injury or damage may have arisen by reason of the negligence of anyone or more of the aforesaid parties, their servants, agents or employees. I further state that I am in proper physical condition to participate in this program and am aware that participation could, in some circumstances, result in physical injury. I also give my permission for the free use of my name and picture in broadcast, telecast, or written account of this program.
