THUNDER BAY OPEN BADMINTON TOURNAMENT

WHERE: Friday, March 24th and Saturday, March 25th at Superior CVI. The Friday and Saturday venues will probably
include a second school for the Ladies Singles and Doubles, at Ecole Secondaire La Verendrye. Or Hammarskjold HS
COST: Cost is $30 per player to enter up to 3 events. Student entry fees for secondary school students is $15 for the 3 events. Payment is due prior to play. Cheques must be payable to NWOBA.
WHEN: The singles draw will begin Friday at promptly 4 p.m. at Superior C.V.I. and end at 10p.m..All players check in at Superior CVI. Please arrive between 3:45 and 4:00pm to register. Doubles will begin at 8:30 a.m. sharp Saturday at both schools with Mixed Doubles to follow in the afternoon at Superior including the prize draw..
FORMAT: The tournament will consist of an ABC format. Each athlete is guaranteed three matches in an event. After your third match (best two out of three) you must keep winning. If the entry total is low in a certain event we may run a round robin format for that event. We will be using Rally Point with best 2 out of 3 games to 21 points . There are two separate age divisions. You must specify U19 or Open Division. U19 players can play up if they are skilled players. Mavis 350 shuttles will be the default shuttle provided.
ENTRIES: Entries must be submitted to Gene Kent by Tuesday, February 21st at 7#0 p.m. . The primary method of entry is by using the Google Form which we will email to you. YOU MUST PROVIDE US YOUR EMAIL! Please forward the online entry to your playing partners or friends.
In a case where do not have a computer or cell phone you can drop off entries at the Hammarskjold Badminton Tuesdays at &;30pm or LU Sundays at 4pm. Gene Kent [email protected] or Marian Childs[email protected] are primary contacts. If you do not have a partner for an event and would like one please write P.D. (partner desired) in the space and we will try to find one for you.
For team entries from schools or clubs; please rank your players on the entry form per event ie 1st, 2nd..and send in entries by school / club.
Eyewear: Eye protection (goggles) for all events are mandatory for players under 19 years of age (OBA rule).
AWARDS: Awards for First, Second and Third in “A”, “B” . Prizes to be drawn on Saturday at Superior C.V.I..at 12:30-1PM
