Tournament Description
Come on out and have some fun at the Yonex Eastman Open Badminton Tournament! Players of all skill levels and experience, from beginner to advanced are encouraged to participate!
The Eastman Open started two years ago in Whitemouth with 45 participants, grew in it's second year to 80 participants in Steinbach Regional Secondary School, and we are expecting over 100 participants this year which is why the tournament will be held at SRSS for the Open and U19 age categories, and at SRHS for the U16 and U14 age categories.
This tournament guarantees 3 matches for each event, in either a round robin (7 players or less) or Triple Knock-Down (8 or more players) format. In the Triple Knock-Down, players will all start in Group A. A first round loss in A puts a player into the C draw, and a first round loss in C goes to D. A second round loss in A goes to B. In that way, all players will get a chance to play varying difficulties of players, and will always end up in their most appropriate skill level.
This tournament is played with Mavis 350 shuttles (nylon/plastic), which is a high quality school grade shuttle.
Play will begin on Friday with Singles, Saturday morning with Doubles and Saturday afternoon with Mixed Doubles. All finals for A/B/C/D events and multi-group round robins will be held on Sunday morning/afternoon. Please be prepared to play on Sunday regardless of your skill level. All players have the ability to make a final.
