The MBA Awards Banquet was started in 1994, and at that time, the awards given away were Sportsmanship, Distinguished Contribution & Coaching Achievement. That year the winners were:
The following year (1995) the category of Outstanding Achievement was added to the list of awards. That first year the award was shared by two internationally distinguished players, Jaimie Dawson & Anil Kaul. In the time since those awards, the MBA has handed out many more awards to many worthy individuals in our community. The Distinguished Contribution Award has since then also been renamed the "Connie Blamey Distinguished Contribution", recognizing Connie's long-time work in and out of the Manitoba Badminton Association. It is our pride and privilege to bring to you the 19th Annual Awards Banquet, where we will celebrate the 2011-12 Badminton Season!
