The Grade 7/8 Team Badminton Championships offers local schools who are encouraging badminton as a high profile sport, a large production, exciting team badminton event that will be sure to leave a lasting impression on the athletes and coaches.
School teams will compete in "Ties" against other schools. Each Tie will consist of 1 match of Boys Singles, Girls Singles, Boys Doubles, Girls Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Each match will be a best of 3 games to 21 points, following BWF Rules (http://bwfbadminton.org/page.aspx?id=14914). All teams will make the playoffs.
Prizes for top 3 teams in the tournament.
Athletes will get the chance to experience Tournament Referees and Umpires (if they haven't already), just like we do in our regular tournaments).
This tournament will be played with Nylon Shuttles.
Athletes will get the chance to play in a Badminton-Specific Facility, at the Winnipeg Winter Club.
