Tournament Description

This year's tournament will be hosted once again by the Selkirk Badminton Club and their wonderful volunteers.  This tournament is a staple on the MBA calendar and is a very exciting one for a majority of athletes.  This tournament provides age-appropriate competition so that adults and seniors alike can not only compete with players in their similar age-group but also so that they can socialize in a more comfortable setting.

The Selkirk Badminton Club typically hosts some snacks throughout the tournament, however please be sure to bring your own food and snacks just in case you get hungry.

There will be 3 separate age categories - 30+, 45+ & 60+ which will hopefully separate people into appropriate levels of capability, however strong players are welcome to enter into lower age categories if they feel like the challenge. Players however cannot move up an age category (think opposite of juniors!).

One last thing - starting with last year's results the winners will have their names engraved on a new trophy dedicated to the Manitoba Seniors & Masters. There will be a separate trophy for 30+ and 45+, and one of them will be named "in honour of Barry Ursell" and will be donated by Barry Ursell's family. Barry Ursell started playing badminton when he was 13 and is now the record holder for most National Badminton Championships. All of Barry's national championships were won in his senior years at the National Seniors & Masters Championships, and because of this he is an example of resilience and pure love of the sport. Barry passed away approximately 3 years ago leaving behind a great badminton legacy.

We look forward to seeing you out there!
