Tournament Description
The Herb Richard Manitoba Open is one of Manitoba's longest standing badminton tournaments, where before the National Circuit days, players would travel from other provinces to compete in Winnipeg. The Herb Richard Manitoba Open is a premier Badminton Manitoba event that has been named after Herb Richard after he passed away. Herb was the badminton professional at both the Winnipeg Canoe Club and the Wildewood Club in his days. He was a dedicated member of the badminton community as a leader, player, coach and builder.
Host Hotel: Canad Inns Fort Garry
If you're booking a hotel room, book at Canad Inns Fort Garry for preferred pricing. Nobody's getting the price that we get, and you just need to quote "Badminton Manitoba" and tell them you're playing in the badminton tournament.
Refund Policy: Badminton Manitoba does not permit refunds of MBA Memberships or Tournament Registration Fees unless requests are accompanied by a medical note or immediate family crisis.
Availability: Participants must be available to play during the entirety of the events that they are registered for. MBA will not accept special requests for time, for any reason.
Due to speed of play being unpredictable, participants are asked to be ready a minimum of 30 minutes prior to their posted match. It is ultimately the player’s responsibility to be present for the start of their match.
The Tournament will enforce a strict 10 minute disqualification rule and 3-minute warm-up rule.
Clothing: Participants must have an indoor change of clothing and non-marking athletic shoes
Equipment: Participants must bring their own racquets

All Times May Vary based on match lengths (Please be ready to play 30 minutes prior to posted time)
Thursday, 5pm - 10pm - MS & WS (locals only)
Friday, 5pm - 12am - MS & WS (all players)
Saturday, 9am - 6pm - MD/WD/XD
Sunday, 11am - 2pm - Finals (A/A-Consol/B-B-Consol)
