Tournament Description

Winnipeg Winter Club is hosting the first Provincial Open tournament of the year.  This tournament is a 0.75 ranking tournament, which means it has 2 referees throughout the tournament, umpires for finals, and feather shuttles are used throughout the event.  A 0.75 tournament is the 2nd highest ranking tournament for provincial tournaments, behind only Badminton Manitoba's Premier Series (MB Open & MB Closed).

There is a lunch planned for Saturday, as well as a tournament souvenir and prizes for those who make finals, so they're going all out for this tournament!

Other Information:

Refund Policy: Badminton Manitoba does not permit refunds of MBA Memberships.  Tournament Registration Fees will not be reimbursed after the registration deadline unless requests are accompanied by a medical note or immediate family crisis.

Availability: Participants must be available to play during the entirety of the tournament.  MBA will not accept special requests for time, for any reason.
Due to speed of play being unpredictable, participants are asked to be ready a minimum of 30 minutes prior to their posted match.  It is ultimately the player's responsibility to be present for the start of their match

The tournament will enforce a strict 10 minute disqualification rule and 3-minute warm-up rule

Clothing: Participants must have an indoor change of clothing and non-marking athletic shoes

Equipment: Participants must bring their own racquet(s)

Volunteers: If you would like to volunteer at the draw desk, please contact Sean Chawla at [email protected]

Coaching: Only coaches and players are allowed on the field of play.  Coaches must be valid members of Badminton Manitoba.  As of September 2018, coaches must have completed their Respect In Sport Certification.  Only 2 coaches allowed per court, and coaches must sit on the same side as their athletes if on the field of play.

Players are responsible for being present for all their matches, and the "Approximate Schedule" is only a guide and should not be used as fact.  If the tournament is running ahead of time, it is your responsibility to be prepared for your match.
