Tournament Description

After last year's successful Inaugural Tournament we are looking to host another great event in the North of Manitoba!  Will champions repeat?  Will there be new kings and queens of the north?  Only time will tell!  Come on out and have a great time at the 2nd Annual Yonex Norman Open in Thompson Manitoba!

David Ross was a passionate father, teacher and leader in the community of God's Lake Narrows, using badminton as a tool to give kids the opportunity to develop healthy habits, learn respect, work ethic, dedication and sportsmanship.

God's Lake Narrows being a fly-in community for the majority of the year meant that David was often fundraising to pay for his athletes to attend tournaments in Winnipeg, Thompson, Fort Frances, and elsewhere.  He also brought his athletes to tryouts for Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games, Summer Camps in Winnipeg and other training opportunities available to his kids.  David would accompany his team on most trips as well.

For David's leadership in the community of sport of Badminton, the Manitoba Badminton Association and it's Board of Directors would like to present the following award each year at the Norman Open:

David Ross Excellence Award

1 award will be given annually to the junior athlete that exibits the following characteristics: Hard Work, Sportsmanship, Fair Play & Positive Attitude

 

Tournament Rules/Regulations

Refund Policy: Badminton Manitoba does not permit refunds of MBA Memberships or Tournament Registration Fees unless requests are accompanied by a medical note or immediate family crisis.

Availability: Participants must be available to play during the entirety of the events that they are registered for.  MBA will not accept special requests for time, for any reason.

Due to speed of play being unpredictable, participants are asked to be ready a minimum of 30 minutes prior to their posted match.  It is ultimately the player’s responsibility to be present for the start of their match.

The Tournament will enforce a strict 10 minute disqualification rule and 3-minute warm-up rule.

Clothing: Participants must have an indoor change of clothing and non-marking athletic shoes

Equipment: Participants must bring their own racquets
