MAP

The 2010 YONEX Manitoba Junior Championships took place from February 26-28 and took in roughly 80 young competitors ranging from 9-19 and from all over the province. The tournament also experienced many new faces as many players that will be competing in the upcoming Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games taking, place March 11-13 in Portage La Prairie, entered the tournament to get some experience before the competition.

While all of the players showed a great potential for the sport of badminton in Manitoba in the coming future there are a few results that really stand out. This tournament had three players that managed to get a triple crown, winning the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events. This is an achievement that is rarely accomplished and for it to occur three times in one tournament is a great showing for the future potential of our Manitoban athletes. Bryan Liew successfully triple crowned in the U14 event with 2 of the 3 events going to 3 games. Leah Inglis and Andrew Harrison each triple crowned in the U19 event sealing the deal by winning Mixed Doubles with one another.

The Manitoba Badminton Association would like to thank all those who volunteered their time to make this tournament a success, as well as, officials, coaches, and of course the athletes and their parents. For a complete list Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Consolation results please read below.
